Sean came awake to discover his arm had fallen asleep, tucked under his head the way it was. His other arm was wrapped protectively around Nadia’s waist, and her back was pressed against him. He didn’t know when they had fallen asleep on the couch, but he knew if they didn’t get up now, their bodies would hate them in the morning.

He shifted, propping himself on his elbow. He glanced around the small living room, looking for the time. On the wall above the television, he noticed a framed photo of an older couple. It wasn’t hard to guess that the couple was her parents. He remembered she mentioned her father was French. Though she bore no resemblance to the fair-skinned man, the resemblance between her and the beautiful dark-skinned woman was striking.

For a moment, he pictured Nadia at that age, and he froze. Just the thought of growing old with her made him realize how committed he was to her and their budding relationship.

Once the feeling returned to his arm, Sean carefully climbed over her and stood beside the couch. She didn’t stir. In fact, she turned and nestled deeper into the crook of the sofa, curling herself tighter into a fetal position.

For a moment, he stood there admiring the swells of her ass that peeked from beneath her shorts. He wanted to be inside her badly, wanted to feel her tight, damp walls close around him while her soft muscles gently tighten around his rigid length.

Sean blew out a shuddering breath and ran a hand over his face. He needed to put a halt to his wayward thoughts before he gave himself a bad case of blue balls. He would respect her request for them to take it slow no matter what. Building something serious with her was more important to him now than pushing for sex only to have her resent him after.

He would prove to her that he wanted more than just sex from her.

Sean leaned down and scooped her into his arms. She murmured something in her sleep before curling into his arms. Sean smiled, realizing just how heavy a sleeper she was. He made it into her bedroom and laid her on the bed. He glanced at the clock on the nightstand and winced at how late it was. In a few hours, they would both need to be up.

Sean stripped down to his boxers and climbed into the bed beside her. He gathered her close in his arms and she released a soft sigh, her warm breath brushing against his neck.

“Sean?”

Her sleepy voice startled him, but he pulled her closer to him.

“Yeah, baby. It’s just me.”

“You didn’t leave.”

He pressed his lips against her hair. “Nope. Unless you physically kick me out, I’m not going anywhere.”

She wrapped her arms around him and burrowed closer into him. “Kick you out?” There was an unmistakable smile in her voice. “I wouldn’t dare.”
